Simone Agrimonti stands by some restored ruins
Simone Agrimonti, a UC Department of Classics Ph.D., has been appointed as the Assistant Director of the American School of Classical Studies in Athens for the academic year 2021/22.
In this position, he will contribute to the functioning of America’s oldest research institution abroad, since the Assistant Director plays a key role in many of the School’s activities. Simone will coordinate with scholars who wish to carry out research in Greece, helping them with organizational matters and liaising with Greek authorities. Together with the Director and the Mellon Professor, he will also be a point of reference for the many students in residence at the School, leading trips throughout Greece visiting archaeological sites and museums.
Simone’s appointment is part of a long tradition of close ties between the American School and the UC Classics Department, which throughout the years has provided countless student members and three Directors (Blegen, Caskey, and Davis).
