Nestor is an international bibliography of Aegean studies, Homeric society, Indo-European linguistics, and related fields. It is published monthly from September to May (each volume covers one calendar year) by the Department of Classics, University of Cincinnati. It is currently edited by Carol R. Hershenson.

On September 12, in the Burnam Classics Library, the entire department celebrated the newly established Dorothy and Marion Rawson Professorship in Classical Archaeology, and its first holder, Professor Kathleen M. Lynch.

 

It was a joyous occasion with talks by Daniel Markovich, head, Jay Twomey, representing the College of Arts and Sciences, Jack Davis, Shannan Stewart, and Kathleen herself.

Congratulations to our own Jack Davis on being named one of the Big 12 Conference’s first-ever Faculty of the Year honorees!  He was presented a trophy at the Bowling Green Falcons-Cincinnati Bearcats football game at Nippert Stadium on September 6. 

 

The award recognizes outstanding faculty across all 16 Big 12 institutions who have excelled in innovation, research, and education. Jack ’s groundbreaking contributions in Greek archaeology exemplify the spirit of discovery and impact that defines our Department and College of Arts and Sciences. We are proud to celebrate this historic recognition of his scholarship and dedication.

 

We were also very honored and pleased by the presence of Dean James Mack and Divisional Dean Jay Twomey with us in the bleachers.
