AIA 2019
On 11 March 2018 (25 March with a late fee) submissions for colloquia, workshops, and open-session papers and posters needing an early decision to acquire a visa or obtain funding are due for the Annual Meeting of the Archaeological Institute of America (AIA 2019), to be held on 3-6 January 2019 in San Diego. On 5 August 2018 (19 August with a late fee) submissions are due for all other workshops, open session papers and posters, and any provisionally accepted colloquia that are resubmitting. On 15 November 2019 Lightning Session and Roundtable submissions are due. Submission forms and further information are available at http://www.archaeological.org.
Digital Humanities and Ritual Space
On 30 March 2018 abstracts (300 words maximum) are due for the second international meeting of the network Unlocking Sacred Landscapes (UnSaLa), Digital Humanities and Ritual Space, to be held on 19-21 October 2018 in the Laboratory of Geophysical-Satellite Remote Sensing and Archaeo-environment (Melissinou & Nikiforou Foka 130) in Rethymnon, Crete. The meeting will focus on digital approaches both to ritual space and to artefacts relating to ritual practice and cult. Papers (20 minutes) and posters are invited with archaeological, art-historical, anthropological, ethnographic, historical, computational, cultural heritage, or inter-disciplinary approaches on the following topics:
Inter- and intra-site Geographic Information System (GIS) approaches and spatial statistics and modelling of ritual space and/or its associated material assemblages
Digitisation and virtual reconstruction of ritual space and/or its associated material assemblages
Remote sensing\aerial\satellite approaches to ritual space
Other computational methods and developments (e.g. space syntax and 3D modelling) applied to ritual space and/or its associated material assemblages
Digital approaches to culture heritage management and culture heritage studies of ritual space and/or its associated material assemblages
Digital approaches to phenomenological, performative, and experiential analyses related to ritual space and/or its associated material assemblages
