Publishing our results

The dissemination of our work via academic publications and through public outreach is the principal aim of PARP:PS.  To that end, we publish essential preliminary excavation reports annually, along with more synthetic scholarly articles, in peer-reviewed journals.  Beyond the more usual delivery of papers at academic conferences, Steven Ellis also delivers invited presentations at universities world-wide.  The project also enjoys a broader public outreach through media outlets such as newspaper, magazine, and online stories, as well as through television documentaries (ie. National Geographic’s forthcoming ‘Rome Unwrapped’ series).

The primary goal of publication for the excavations of VIII.7 and the Porta Stabia is a four-volume final monograph once the excavations and study seasons are complete.  The organization of the volumes is as follows:

  • Volume I: Structure, stratigraphy, and space. (Steven Ellis and Gary Devore)
  • Volume II: The ceramics and small finds of VII.7.1-15 and the Porta Stabia. (Myles McCallum, Ettore Manfredi, and Steven Ellis)
  • Volume III: The bio-archaeology of VII.7.1-15 and the Porta Stabia. (Emily Holt and Steven Ellis)
  • Volume IV: The coins of VII.7.1-15 and the Porta Stabia. (Giacomo Pardini)

The primary goal of publication for the excavations of insula I.1 is to incorporate the data with that of VIII.7 into another series of volumes once the excavations and study seasons are complete.  Further information on the organization of the volumes is TBA.
