MediaLink

(Dev Manual)

One record = one item on one piece of media

General Info

Using a Finds example: one find can be on many photographs. One photograph can show many finds. Therefore the Media table (that holds information on the photos among other things) and the MediaLink table work to create a many-to-many relationship with the context and finds tables. In order for this to work, each item on a photo that can be named must be named in a separate record in the MediaLink table. These records aren't created directly in the MediaLink table but are done through a portal into the Media table.

Relationships

Media and MediaLink are related to almost all tables separately. This is how we can limit the media to a particular trench or Phase.

Edit Data

There are detailed instructions on the use of this table in the Importing Digital Images 2010 document. This is most often edited using the Media-Large layout.
