biscuit are gray, except that an
orangey-brown layer shows up wherever
the gray surface (slip?) has worn off.
Decorated with dull creamy-white paint
(over)

groups of stripes below rim, around upper body,
around mid-body, and occasionally in between;
saltires, dot rosettes, swastikas, etc.
