Mynors (1990) ad loc. "Clearly a general word for plants that grow in marshy ground, 'sedge'; attempts at botanical identification are misdirected, and have produced absurdities." The following are a set of the various squishy plants that have been proposed.* These are meant just to give us an idea of the things Vergil may have had in mind.
* Lewis & Short and W. H. S. Jones in his list of plants in the Loeb of Pliny VII (XXIV-XXVII) give ulva as "Ulva conferva." I cannot locate this in any standard list of synonyms, and Ulva and Conferva are separate genera of seaweeds. I've standardized the binomials listed in the older books.
