The American Society of Papyrologists (ASP) was founded in 1961 to further the study of ancient Greekand Latin papyri and of the materials contained in them. The Society supports and encourages research in the field, the teaching of the discipline, and opportunities for international cooperation by scholars in thefield. Members of the American Society of Papyrologists may join the Association Internationale dePapyrologues (AIP), which sponsors the triennial International Congress of Papyrology and subsidizessuch scholarly enterprises as the Wörterbuch der Griechischen Papyrusurkunden and the photographicarchives of papyri maintained in Brussels. ASP members receive Bulletin of the American Society ofPapyrologists.
